MS Dhoni returned to lead the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but the season has not gone as hoped, marking one of the franchise's worst performances to date. With only three victories out of 13 matches, CSK finds itself at the bottom of the points table. While there is a slim chance for improvement, their overall performance has been lacking. The team's final match of the season is against the Gujarat Titans, and they will aim to conclude with a victory.
Challenges Faced by CSK in IPL 2025
The difficulties for CSK began with several questionable decisions during the auction. The situation worsened with injuries, notably the absence of Ruturaj Gaikwad, which led to Dhoni resuming the captaincy. However, nostalgia has not translated into success this time. Dhoni's age and limited preparation appear to have impacted his performance in the fast-paced environment of the IPL.
Sanjay Bangar's Advice to MS Dhoni
In light of the team's struggles, Sanjay Bangar has suggested that it may be time for MS Dhoni to step away from the team. He stated, "At 43, competing at this level is incredibly challenging. Even local cricket can be tough on the body. If I were in MS's position, I would consider it enough. I've achieved what I wanted and prioritized the franchise's interests. It's time to move on and allow the team to evolve without me."
Bangar further emphasized that there is never a perfect moment for transition, suggesting that Dhoni's departure could ultimately benefit the franchise in the long run.
